Midcoast Events: Ice Bar at Camden Harbour Inn---------------------- MAINE BARTENDERS BASH (3/1/10) Maine Restaurant Week Kick-off Presented by the Spirit of Maine, Cold River Vodka Many thanks to the fifteen bartenders and over three hundred guests who helped kick-off Maine Restaurant Week 2010 in grand style. The Portland Museum of Art was the perfect setting to showcase the artistry of Maine's bartending elite. Guests voted and the top prize went to Tom Laslavic of Natalie's Restaurant at Camden Harbour Inn. Tom's Cold River Vodka cocktail was the "Camden Hike" (Recipe follows). Event sponsors included Portland Press Herald and Cold River Vodka. During the Bash a surprise announcement was made by Maine Beverage Company President and CEO, D. Dean Williams, that the company would be matching the evening's fundraising for Preble Street Resource Center. To the entire Maine Beverage Company team, we can't thank you enough. ![]() Camden Hike, created by Tom Laslavic of Natalie's Restaurant 1 1/2 oz. Cold River Vodka 1/2 lemon, squeezed 1 tsp. blueberry puree 1 tsp. blackberry puree 1/4 oz. Creme de Cassis 1/2 oz. honey Club soda Fresh berries and thick lemon peel garnish Mixed and shaken, pour into iced glass topped with cold club soda & garnished with fresh berries and lemon peel. On Friday March 5, 6-8p, Rabelais will host an opening reception for the collection of Dr. Lou Jacobs of Mug Shots 1899-1954. A motley assortment of cooks, bakers, waiters, dishwashers, bartenders and butchers who lost control and broke the law. The arrested were murderers, thieves, pimps and fugitives. Some were simply drunk & disorderly. Many of the documents are from San Francisco, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. All of the mug shots are original. Thursday, March 4 - Saturday, March 6 Weather permitting, the Ice Bar at Natalie's at Camden Harbour Inn will be Thursday, March 4 through Saturday, March 6, from 5 pm - 8 pm each day. Guests will enjoy Bartender Tom Laslavic's "Camden Hike" Cold River Vodka cocktail, Cellardoor Wines and an icy martini luge. DJ Owen C will spin electric lounge sounds for entertainment. This is a 21+ event, no ticket is required.
Mediterranean Dinner, featuring food writer and cookbook author, Nancy Harmon Jenkins - Camden Nancy Harmon Jenkins, author of the Mediterranean Diet and lifelong Camden resident, along with Chef Lawrence Klang will present a Mediterranean meal, Saturday, March 6 at Natalie's. The evening begins with small bites including: Squid Ink Pasta, Chili, Serrano Ham and Reggiano Olive Brioche, Steamed Mussels and Black Pepper Mignonette, and Lemon Tuna and Tomato Pie Palermo Chick Pea Fritters.
