Slates owner and head chef Wendy Larson has always used regionally sourced, seasonal and natural ingredients in all of her recipies.  Larson's creative and consistent cooking has brought Slates statewide acclaim for over thirty five years! 
 
Inside Slates doors not only great food, but art, is served.  Monthly rotating art shows plaster the exposed brick walls, dark reclaimed woodwork embelishes the bar and hand painted murals cover the walls and tables throughout.  Finally, the open kitchen allows customers to view the chefs at work.
 
Slates is located in Maine's historic Hallowell. Water street runs along the kennebec river and is lined with ample antique stores, Slates lies at one end of this charming street, a mainstay for the past 35 years.  Slates Bakery and Deli are located next door.

Fresh Maine Crab Cake with roasted red pepper aioli

Italian Cheese filled turkey meatball with creamy marinara

Fresh Baked Haddock with Maine crabmeat filling, served with two sides

Seared salmon filet with a balsamic red grape red wine reduction, served with two sides

Grilled flat iron steak topped with a creamy mushroom cognac sauce, served with two sides
