Slates owner and head chef Wendy Larson has always used regionally sourced, seasonal and natural ingredients in all of her recipies. Slates creative and consistent cooking has brought the restaurant statewide acclaim for close to 44 years! Inside Slates doors not only great food, but local art is rotated monthly. Bright colors and hand painted murals cover the walls and tables throughout. Finally, the open kitchen allows customers to view the chefs at work. Slates is located in Maine's historic Hallowell on Water street which runs which along the Kennebec river. Slates Bakery is located next door at 161 Water street where all the restaurants breads, desserts, ice cream and pasta are made daily. The bakery also boasts a sweet retail space open to the public.
